About Me
I am a designer and maker of bold sculptural jewelry.
I am dedicated to synthesizing techniques and materials in new ways. I create unique works of art. Being open to new ideas and techniques is what keeps the process stimulating. My work continually evolves.
I work in many metals and add color using gems, enamel, glass, fabrics and repurposed objects. I craft each piece personally in my High Desert Albuquerque studio.
I was born and raised in New Mexico where my mother was an accomplished painter. She imbued in me the notion that we can develop ourselves and create objects of great beauty. I remember her lessons around color, design, and fashion. She taught me the importance of a bold artistic statement.
My natural love of jewelry emerged at an early age.
I started working at a jewelry store as a young teen where I watched my boss at the bench and dreamed of one day making jewelry myself. It was a great way to learn about fine jewelry!
I
After college I worked in accounting followed by designing and building custom homes. This developed my design skills and understanding of structural principles, which serve me well in the design and making of complex pieces of jewelry. I always made time for my jewelry endeavors along the way and now am able to devote my time to the design and creation of unique wearable art.
Kumihimo has been a part of my repertoire for many years. In addition to the beauty of the braid as a standalone piece of jewelry, I love elevating my metal work with the elegance of Kumihimo braids. It’s great to have a lot of tools in your technique tool box and there is always something new to learn! I never get bored in the studio!
I’ve been blessed to work with outstanding mentors. They’ve taught me technique and challenged me to find my artistic voice. I’ve always felt a natural urge to synthesize techniques in search of my personal style. My teachers and mentors have faithfully traveled this path with me.
